I like the details in this one. "The sizzle of the meat", "The roar of the flambe", the weight of the starched jacket. I also enjoy the humor and "quipiness" of the narrator. One note: I noticed two instances of the word "Divine" in this chapter - I personally try to avoid using the same word even twice, but I could be a bit more vigilant than most on that. Another note: A couple times you say, "The soup smelled divine", and "the mouth-watering fragrance of the onions" - these phrases are kind of empty, for lack of a better term. I guess you would say it's telling vs. showing. Describe the smell and the fragrance if you can. Overall though I enjoyed this piece. I think it has a lot of promise. Keep up the good work.
