This is a CrazyRickRiordanFan Challenge! you can chose ANY well known or popular song and make it into a story
e.g. Stupid Song by Olivia Rodriguo
Those stupid song writers, as if they know anything about teenagers. She thought to herself angrily as she walked home. Abruptly, she stopped and threw her phone to the floor, the glass shattering. Where's my fricking teenage dream? She screamed at the sky. Everybody should feel how I feel when somebody says his name! Tears started streaming down her cheeks. I'm a car, speeding down the boulevard without a brake and I want YOU MORE THAN ANY STUPID SONG COULD EVER SAY... to be continued.
I look forward to hearing your stories!
The song goes like this:
Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Where they strung up a man they say murdered three.
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.
Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Where the dead man called out for his love to flee.
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.
Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Where I told you to run, so we'd both be free.
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.
Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Wear a necklace of rope, side by side with me.
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.
The Story:
Part 1
The man panted, sweat dripping down his brow, as he admired his work.
No blood, just dark bruises slowly blossoming on their bodies. Beautiful but horrifying.
No blades, no needles, just brute force. He needed to make the torture last, to make their ribs crack one by one, until their chests are dark green and purple, as if stained with paint.
His partner smiled
"Finally, they get what they deserve."
He knelt down and inspected them.
Perfect.
He started getting up.
A flicker of movement at the door caught his eye.
"Who..."
Dark, hooded figures burst inside the room
He screamed, ripping apart his vocal chords
"Flee! My love, flee!"
She glanced at him one last time, her dark brown hair silver in the moonlight
"Remember, meet me at the hanging tre-"
She nodded, and fled into the woods.
Part 2
He knew where they were going to take him.
The hanging tree.
Where they hang all the criminals.
The ones who murdered
Part 3
Strange things did happen there.
People often catch glimpses of people, people who were long dead, crawling around the place.
They say that the tree was the gateway between death and life
Part 4
"Any last words?"
He smiled
"Yes"
"Then say it"
"My love. Are you, are you, coming to the hanging tree"
The rope went taut, and he was dead
Part 5
The man swung on the branches, the noose tight around his neck, his eyes glassy and lifeless.
The woman stood beneath the tree.
In her hands, clutched a perfectly made noose.
She climbed up the tree, she had done this hundreds of times before, but not with the same purpose.
She tied the knot.
Pulled the circle of rope around her neck.
Crouched on the branch
She laced her hands around his, and for a moment, it felt like as if his grip had tightened.
The moon slid into the center of the sky.
It was midnight.
She leaped off the branch.
Her name was Katniss Everdeen.
The man's was Gale Hawthorne
