It was a normal day for Thomas well as normal as it could be for a foreigner in Japan, you see just two months ago Thomas moved to Japan for reasons of being a otaku who wants more merch acsess. this particular day Thomas was looking for a pretty cure pop up shop when he stumbled across a maid cafe. he had never been to a maid cafe before so what did he do go to the maid cafe he was sat down at a table and asked to order, Thomas ordered a super kawaii hot chocolate and a magical girl pancake.
he was waiting patiently for his food to come when a maid came with his order, she walked quite beautifully as maids do, but then CRASH! she tripped
"aH fiddlesticks" she looked up at Thomas
"OMG your so pretty you should become a maid miss"
"uh I'm not a miss"
"UH wait what"
she picked herself up quite embarrassed
"I'm so sorry sir, Its just"
"Julia stop embarrassing yourself any further!"
the maid who apparently was named Julia scurried away
Despite how clumsy she was, Julia was very cute, in Thomas's opinion. Her ruffled maid skirt flounced as she bounced around between his table and a couple others.
And even though his Japanese was complete garbage, her English was pretty understandable. Well.. for the most part. She seemed still embarrassed when trying to talk to him, mumbling and fidgeting with her pen when she took his order, so some of her clarity was lost, but they managed to communicate well enough for him to order a melon soda. It was a brighter green than he expected, but being able to live in Tokyo and visit Akihabara as much as he wanted was already like a shiny bright excitement for him anyway.
But it did have one itsy bitsy totally not a big deal caveat that put a damper on his whole "move to Japan and live his dreams" thing. He was broke. Broke and jobless. Jobless and broke, if you will.
And seeing Julia flying around the cafe, seemingly by herself... her accidental misplaced compliment started to go to his head.
Akiba is flooded with tourists. He knows it. And he knows many other tourists also have God-awful Japanese and would be more keen to order food in English. And he also knows (because Julia told him 15 minutes ago) that he is quite pretty. Pretty enough to be mistaken for a girl, and that illusion could only be perpetrated further if he wore a maid outfit and a wig.
As he sips his neon green soda, he solidifies his plan. Obviously he'll need to apply for the job while wearing aforementioned wig. And probably a dress to show off his legs for a little extra.. appeal.
But it's clear, if he wants to afford to live and buy tons of bishoujo figurines and build Gundams in his apartment, he needs a job, and he found a lovely little cafe that's hiring.
