Eliza Stewart finished checking out at the boutique after buying the three onesies and a package of newborn diapers for her twin sister Emma Henry, and she couldn't wait to surprise her with them later. But first she had to head home and start on her husband James and her anniversary dinner while he was at work. Eliza had the perfect life; yes, her husband worked a little too much, and she still didn't know the father of her twin's baby. Hopefully it wasn't Emma's abusive ex-boyfriend Steven, but she had no complaints.
After placing the bags in the backseat, she adjusted the air conditioner and headed home. The drive was peaceful and quiet, a lot like her life, and the route she took meant she got to see the trees, farmland, and the animals that surrounded them. This way home was always her favorite, but her husband always preferred the highways because it was, in his words, faster and more efficient. So, she only went this way when she was alone.
Once, she got to her street and saw her home in the gated community of Sterling Crest at the Palms. She also saw two things that were unexpected: Emma's red Honda and James's White F150, but unexpected wasn't bad. At least she could give her sister the gifts for her future niece or nephew now. So, there was no darkness or thoughts of deceit when she walked into her home on Townsend Lane. If there was, then maybe she wouldn't have been so blindsided.
"When are you going to get rid of her?" Emma whined as she pawed over James.
Eliza started to record with her phone.
"Soon," James replied as he kissed the corner of Emma's mouth.
"That's what you have been saying since you got me pregnant with your child. I want her gone. Eliza is in the place where I should be," Emma hissed.
"I have a plan, since I am also trying not to give her half of my money and business," James's voice sounded crueler and colder than she had ever heard it.
The conversation and betrayal between them continued, as Eliza got it all before silently sneaking out of her own home.
