Smile Care patrolled the dark streets, their engraved smiles shining in the darkness, and their heavy duty blasters at their sides. Alphonso slowly braved a peek out from behind the bush. They were walking away. As soon as they got out of sight, he ran, crouched down, to the enclosure.
The enclosure was where they kept the patients, as they called them, to do tests on. Alphonso knew this was another word for the demented kind of surgery that they did to you if you weren't smiling, the kind that he might have soon if he didn't keep hidden. Tonight though, he was here for another reason. His girlfriend, Belle was locked up for defying the cruel government, and he was going to save her.
The doors of the enclosure were almost impenetrable, but after studying them for months, Alphonso knew how to get past them. He pulled out a taser, and electrocuted the face scanner, and then slowly slid a fake fingerprint into the hand sensor. He had worked hard for that, first buying a lift card from the underground black market, and then murdering a Smile Care worker for his fingerprint. He hadn't minded that part. Smile Care was one of the most corrupt governments the world had ever had, they forced everyone to smile everyday, and if you didn't, they would stitch one into your face special machinery in the enclosure, or most likely kill you.
The fingerprint worked, and Alphonso got in, only to find a maze. Tunnels led everywhere throughout the massive building, and there were no maps or blueprints. Smile Care workers must have a blueprint chip implanted in their head, Alphonso thought. Hearing someone whistling to themself, he ducked behind a doorway, grabbing a pipe from the ceiling as defense. The sounds grew closer, and he braced himself, waiting for the footsteps to pass. But they didn't, they stopped right outside of his hiding place.
"I can hear you, boy," a snake-like voice whispered to him. A head popped through the doorway, to big black eyes, and a fake looking stitched on smile staring into Alphonso's face. Without thinking, he swung the pipe as hard as he could, smashing the worker's head against the wall. The man fell unconscious. Alphonso bent down, and with a small knife, cut into the man's head, to remove the chip. It was covered in blood, and bits of brain, but it would have to do. Now was the hard part, implanting it in his own head. He had experienced lots of pain in his life, but none like this. His knife cut through his skin, blood spouting from the wound. Quickly, he implanted the chip, and sealed it shut with a small piece of string he was keeping. Now he knew exactly where to go to free Belle, and nothing was in his way.
Running, he made it to Belle's cell, just in time to see the Smile Care workers stitching her mouth with a scar of a smile. He was too late, and couldn't do anything. Suddenly, the workers turned their heads, and spotted him. He took off running.
