Chapter 11: The Rebirth of Sarah

paradox Drama 11 hours ago

Sarah Wilson thought that she had it all, until she didn't, but now she lay here in the middle of the road with her blood coming out of places that it shouldn't be. And she never saw it coming, but she didn't see a lot coming. What Sara regretted was allowing herself to live with such ignorance and faith of people who do not deserve it. Her vision was getting blurry as she watched her car that was being driven by her half-sister, Veronica Walker way from her after it was used to hit her. What made this even worse was that her husband, Allen Wilson, was in the passenger's seat.

Veronica gleefully let her know that they had been planning on getting rid of her for a while; they just chose to get rid of Veronica's husband, well, late husband Jared Walker, first. A few months ago, he was hit by a car, and Sarah condoled her half-sister. She wanted to be there for her, and now it made her sick as she was losing the feeling in her body that she did, and that others would do the same for Allen.

Everything was hazy, and all she felt was humiliation and anger. She didn't deserve this, and neither did Jared. She didn't want to die, but Sarah could tell she was going to. There was nothing she could understand about how Veronica and Allen betrayed and hurt her. Veronica was literally her sister, and she had been with Allen since high school.

Her vision was darker now, and she was fighting to keep her eyes open, but that was useless, so Sarah vowed that if there was another life, she would do everything differently and that she would make sure that she and Jared survived.

There was a sense of nothingness, and it felt like nothing and forever at the same time, almost like madness.

That was until she opened her eyes, and it was ten years in the past, before she married Allen, and before Veronica met Jared.

Before she was whisked back to ten years ago, Sarah was in another realm.

She was floating. White stretched all around her, filled with tiny, black words.

A voice echoed in the whiteness.

"You're not supposed to be here."

Well I didn't ask to be here! Sarah wanted to scream. But her mouth won't cooperate, she glared angrily at the words.

"Go," the voice urged "Change the past, this is your only chance."

The whiteness changed.

The words were erased, around her was now a white emptiness.

Then, ink started to blossom on the white. forming the words:

Chapter Two

"A new chapter..." the voice whispered "A new future..."

Chapter 33: The Cogs are Turning

Sarah blinked, her fingers gripping the edges of the sheets. She was in her bed, the thin, scraggly blanket wound tightly around her body. There was a chill in the air, touching down on her face lightly and cooling her heated skin. She slowly pushed herself into a sitting position, covering her face to adjust to the sudden intake of light from the ajar curtains. Her roommate Katie- wait, Katie?

She watched Katie snap open the curtains, throwing open the small windows and singing to the bustling city at 8:00AM in the damn morning. Katie was her best friend and roommate back in college... but she had moved away to some remote little country three years ago and disappeared off the face of the Earth. This must be a dream. Some leftover nostalgia of her uni days, where her only worries were passing her exams, getting to work on time and paying off her car loan.

And then it all came rushing back. Veronica. Allen. Jared. The betrayal. The white place. Sarah felt her heart stutter and miss a beat, and a headache began pounding away at her temples. She massaged her head, closing her eyes against the onslaught of memories. "What is this? What's going on?" she mumbled, not realising she had spoken aloud. "Dude, get up. We were supposed to go to the library to study, remember?" Sarah opened her eyes once more, staring at Katie in dumbfounded shock as she sauntered over and sat on the edge of her bed, the mattress springs creaking beneath her.

"Hellooo? Are you good?" Katie waved her hand mockingly over Sarah's face, sticking her tongue out at her childishly before leaving the room. "Hurry up! Our usual spots might get taken!" She yelled from the kitchen. Sarah shook her head, throwing the covers off her body with a suspicion accompanying her troubled frown. She looked down at herself, noticing the Hello Kitty pyjamas. She had thrown these out when she graduated. That further solidified her theory: that she had somehow gone back in time.

Now, to remember what happened on this day. Why not her early childhood, or adolescence? Why not start from the top? No, something had to have occurred that was especially important to the path of her future. She just had to figure out what.
