Chapter 11: A girl and her life PROLOGUE

Queen-neef13 Drama 11 Jan 2026

It had been a long hard year, for Elizabeth. Of course, it didn’t start off pretty well to begin with. I guess I should stop the work around talk and just cut to the chase. December 10th 2021 had been the day that she found out that her dad had died the night before. Then, Christmas seemed dull and boring, little did Elizabeth know that she would never experience a normal Christmas again, her life had changed. During the rest of the year several things also changed. First she found out that her father had committed suicide. Later that year, her family was forced to move out of their house. They eventually bought a house and even enrolled in school for the first time. Life would never be the same again.

Chapter 22: Overheard

paradox Contemporary 15 Jul 2026

Being the new girl in school was almost as bad as being a girl whose dad was deceased, and Elizabeth was having trouble feeling like the odd girl out. Walking down the hallway of her new school was one of the most awkward feelings that she had; there were stares and whispers. Not the good ones. Even though Elizabeth didn't tell anyone about her father's suicide, everyone already knew. Which was probably because he was the new anchor for channel three, and was used to being seen daily, so his death left a hole in not only her life but also the people who watched him on the news.

She walked by the Red Wolf Cheerleaders, who were sharing gossip like it was going out of style. At her old school, she was a cheerleader, but now she doesn't feel very cheerful. Once, inside the library, she found an empty corner and made it hers. Most students who were supposed to be at the third lunch period, if not in the cafeteria, were off campus or hanging out in the hallways and empty classrooms. This left the library as one of the emptiest places in the school. It had only been a couple of days since she started at this school, but it already felt like too much.

The corner she picked was not noticeable to most people, so she had overheard a few interesting conversations, but none as interesting as this.

"You know that new girl, Elizabeth Evans, and her father, Jasper Evans?" the librarian with the dark hair said. Elizabeth didn't know her name yet.

"She is in my second period," Mrs. Gates, the math teacher, replied.

"I was having an affair with him," the librarian said as if she was proud of that.

"That must have been a shock seeing his daughter and wife enroll here," Mrs. Gates responded, ignoring the fact that her dad was married, and that the librarian was a mistress.

"It was, I really hope she leaves as much as I hope my husband didn't have anything to do with the suicide," the librarian spoke as if she did nothing wrong.

"If they already declared it a suicide, I highly doubt it matters, plus him being a detective means he can cover it up," Mrs. Gates said as if this was no big deal.

"That's true," the librarian agreed before the two walked away.
