"From childhood’s hour I have not been. As others were—I have not see. As others saw—I could not bring. My passions from a common spring..." - Edgar Allan Poe, 'Alone', about 1829
"Poetry means a lot to me." Butters confessed to Kenny for about the a billionth time. They were walking home, it was getting pretty late. "You've told me that before, about a million times." Kenny says, the wind blowing slightly on his face.
"I don't want you forgettin' it." Butters explains. "I'm not going to. Not if you keep telling me." Kenny rolls his eyes.
Butters laughed nervously. "Sorry..." He was kind of awkward like that. "No... don't apologize. It's sweet something means that much to you." Kenny smiled. He kicked a pebble onto the empty street. "It gives you personality, y'know? Better than being a shell."
Butters shrugged, then smiled softly. Kenny thought it gave him personality? Wow...
They walked the rest of the way to Kenny's block mostly quiet but Butters didn't mind he liked the quiet. It wasn't an awkward silence, rather a pleasant one. As they arrived to Kenny's porch, Kenny turned to Butters and asked, "You sure you wanna walk home by yourself? It's getting really dark."
Butters shook his head. "Then, you'd have to walk home alone. Your street is much scarier than mine."
"Okay... well see you tomorrow, Butters." Kenny waved. "Bye..." Butters said quietly.
He started his journey home. He wished he wasn't alone.
