Chapter 11: STARWALKIN'
You had just learned that the world is going to explode.
That's right, EXPLODE.
Remember global warming?
Yeah.... anyway, you and a few friends are at your house, where your clubhouse is at (Aka, a treehouse).
You all climb up, and Dolores (Aka, Dizzy) Puts her hands on her hips, "What do we do?" She asked Kattie, the girl who's father works at NASA. The one who told her that the world was gonna explode.
She smirked slightly, "Well, we should make a spaceship!" She said, waving her arms around excitedly, "I mean, how hard can it be?"
Chapter 22: STARWALKIN'
It was harder than you thought it would be.
Apparently, spaceships need to be made out of materials like steel and carbon fiber (not a lot of that lying around your neighborhood), have enough fuel to escape the atmosphere (gravity is no joke), and be secure enough that no air escapes while you're in space. ChatGPT and Google can tell you all that, but knowing how to build a spaceship in theory is very different from actually building one.
"Well, maybe we don't have to build a spaceship..." Dizzy starts.
Kattie puts her hands on her hips. "But the world is gonna explode! We can't be here when it does! My dad always says that winners never quit and quitters never win! We gotta at least try."
Yep, she's always pulling these inspirational quotes out of nowhere. Must be pretty common at NASA.
"That's not what I'm saying, Kat," Dizzy says. "I mean, what if we stole a spaceship? We don't have to build one if we can just take one that NASA already made."
You think stealing is bad, so you speak up. "Where are we going to get one of those? It's not like they just have a pile of free spaceships lying around..."
"Actually," Kattie says with a conspiratorial grin, "they do! There's a secret room where they keep all their failed prototypes. They're not doing anything with them, but they can't throw them out because national security."
"Great, so we're going to take a failed spaceship?"
"No, it's really safe, I promise." She's practically bouncing off the walls now. "We'll go there and find the perfect ship! It'll be like ship shopping! And then we'll escape Earth, and by the time they try to stop us?" She stops just long enough to give you her best satisfied smirk. "We'll be in space!"
