Within the land of Bethlehem, which was a part of Judah was a man named Elimelech, and his wife Naomi. The two of them had two sons, Mahlon and Chilion. At this time there was a great great famine in Judah, and Elimelech was stuck in an argument with Naomi about whether or not to leave and relocate to Moab

”But we can’t go there, those people are heathens!” Naomi cried out when Elimelech brought up the idea.

”I know they are heathens, but we have nowhere else to go, if we stay here we starve,” Elimelech tried to explain.

”But what of the boys, they are about the age of marriage, whom will we find to be their wives?”

”That has already been arranged, we will meet them upon our arrival.”

”You mean they are to marry Moabite women!” Naomi yelled
