Chapter 11: Prompt: Sonder
Another one-word prompt! Sonder: To have the realization that every person you encounter has a life as rich, complex, and vivid as your own. Enjoy!
Chapter 22: Spots
Other people are like solid fields sometimes,
all one color, all one thing before you get to know them.
"That's the one with the cowboy hat,"
"Those are the ones who go to church and sing worship songs in the courtyard,"
"That's my roommate's friend who asks me about my guitar sometimes."
You look at yourself and see a leopard,
spotted with patches of darkness only you know about.
You look at them and see a black panther, a black box.
But panthers have spots too,
only they're near invisible.
That's a damn good friend who does his best to stay sober.
Those are the girls who will crack jokes one second and save your soul the next.
They see you more closely than you'll ever know,
and hopefully you can see them too, and understand.
Look past all the blackness to what you can't see with the naked eye.
One person's blind spots are another's truest self.
