Chapter 22: Al Louise

wiriri Mystery / Thriller 1 Oct 2026

I went to the Island's Choice to get a coffee and read my favorite book-- Shadow Slave. The place itself is suitable for reading as it is soothing in mind. What's more interesting about living is to challenge death. As I flip the next page of my worn book, the tiny bell which was hung at the top of the door rang. It greeted a lithe tall woman, fierce brown eyes, with dark brown heavy layered hair.

She directly went to the counter with a face that betrays no sign of emotion. I took a sip of my coffee while holding the book on my left hand. Bleeding is too pedestrian. So, I don't bleed. A word that Sunny said to Beth. It caught me off guard.

After a few minutes, the woman sat next to my table. She look through her bag and got the notebook and pen together with a book entitled, "The Spanish Love Deception". And just as I thought, she too is fond of reading.

The way she pressed her pen when writing says of how dedicated she is to what she's doing.

"Excuse me," a soft whisper that came from a woman made me pause for a second. I didn't realize that she was too close to me. "Do you see me?" What does she mean? Instead of getting bothered and nervous, I close my eyes and took a sigh.

"It was supposed to be me to asked such that." I fixed my seat and put down my book. "I think we are both lost in this place, don't you think?" I replied. She moved her chair closer to me.

"What you see is what you believe." the woman said.

"But not everything you see, you have to start believing it." she looked at me intently, amusement was drawn to her face. "What are you?" she asked with confidence.

"Merely a human, living peacefully in this cruel world." I answered, "Romanticizing your life, you mean." the woman said. Romance?

"No romantic feeling in living. But surviving? Absolutely." I replied without the mere thought of looking at her who is now gazing at me.

"Who are you?" she asked firmly.

"Al Louise." I replied. Just after that, my name was on her notebook-- written in a fine and plain language.
