Lexi finished her book and stood up from the comfy chair she was sitting in. Time to find a new one, she thought to herself. She put the book back in its spot, and wandered the aisles of large oak shelves, covered with books. The library was vacant except for the lady who was checking out books at the main desk.
After a few minutes of wandering, Lexi looked up, and saw a mysterious looking book. The title was "Mars Landing from 2256."
"Weird," Lexi thought out loud. That book had never been there before, and she knew, because she spent any free time she had, in this library. Climbing on the bottom shelf and standing on her tiptoes, she reached up to pull the book down... except the book didn't come, only pulled out slightly, and snapped back into place. Suddenly, a soft grinding noise sounded below her, and slowly, a circular panel of flooring slid away to reveal stairs leading downward. Thinking for a second, she decided to proceed downward.
Her small phone light penetrated only a foot around her on the way down the stairs. She dragged her hand along the rough stone wall to keep her direction, and kept on walking. The rotted wooden stairs creaked under her step, but didn't break as she kept walking.
A few minutes later, she reached the bottom. Her phone illuminated tall shelves in a very large cavern, the ceiling invisible. Walking up to one of the shelves, she saw books. Some with cracked spines, some fresh and new as if they had just been printed. She picked one up that she had never seen before. "World War lll Facts and Fiction" was what the title read. This is so weird, Lexi thought, World War lll hadn't happened yet. The inside cover revealed a publication date. 2078. She set that down and picked up another book. This one was titled, "The Case of Lexi Baerarra." Lexi gasped out loud. That was her name. Quickly flipping the cover over, she read the overview on the back.
"This true story is about a case of a missing teenager named Lexi. It details the library which she went missing in, and the underground cavern that her body was later found in. It includes news articles from real life, and details the search that took over ten months." Lexi's body went limp and she fainted.
