Chapter 11: Lily's Lament

Phaia Fantasy 15 hours ago

"Eeyahhhhhhh!" Lily screamed as another peal of thunder ripped through the air. The atmosphere vibrated with the intensity of the storm as she sheltered inside the hollow of a huge old tree. Lily knew hiding under trees was dangerous during a lighting storm, but it’s not like she had a choice. She’d lost her way as she found herself following a strange-looking animal she’d seen off the side of the trail. The fuzzy little creature wasn’t much bigger than a large rabbit, but she could have sworn it had wings! Something like that would get a ton of likes on her social media accounts. Now though, she wished she’d never seen the stupid thing because she was trapped. Night was falling and this ungodly thunderstorm was raging all around her.

Lily rocked back and forth with her elbows on her knees as she sat cross-legged, peering out of the tree trunk at the deluge of rain pouring from the sky. Would anyone notice she was missing? She hadn’t really told anyone she was coming here to the park today. She just stopped off afterwork like she did sometimes. Her eyes filled with tears as she scooted backed away from the entrance thinking that this was the absolute worst situation she could be in. Then suddenly, there was nothing. Solid ground gave way to pitch black nothingness. Lily’s sense of balance didn’t exist. She felt herself falling. Was she falling fast or slow? She couldn’t tell. There was a complete absence of anything that could help her figure it out. Lily squeezed her eyes shut tightly in a state of panic. Had she fallen into an abandoned mine? Was she going to survive? The answer came more quickly than she expected as she fell with a soft thud into a large pile of what felt like sticks and leaves. At least she thought it was a pile of sticks and leaves at first. Except now, she could feel the pile begin to moan and move.

Chapter 22: Lily's Lament

Lily screamed and flew off the pile in terror crashing into the wall of the hole. She looks in disbelief and horror as the pile slowly rises off of the ground standing to almost six feet tall! Its body covered in tangled and stuck sticks and leaves. Her heart beats faster than her blinking and she sits frozen as the monster slowly turns around, its eyes small and narrowed looking down at her.

Her eyes began to well with tears, she knew this was her final moments stuck in a hole with a beast!

rrrrAAAAAANGGGGgggg

A loud deafening horn blasted into the hole. The monster let out a low deep groan as it covered its ears. Lily gasped and covered her ears as well when a rock hit her. She looked to her right where a hole gapped open with a soft light emitting through it. Without a minute's hesitation she hastily crawled to the hole her heart racing as if she were playing a horror game! Plunging in her heart leapt as instead of meeting ground she met air resistance. Screaming she closed her eyes until a bright light illuminated through her shut eyes. Opening her eyes she landed on a heap of large leaves, the size of a house! And unto the soft grass covered ground.

Lily scanned her surroundings: A large forest of brightly colored flowers, green grass that was soft to the touch, and a nice and sunny sky. Now the only proof of the rainstorm and the encounter with the monster, her wet and muddied clothes. Her breathing returned to normal and shakily she slowly rose from the ground confusion and amazement wrote across her face.

How is this possible? H-how do I get home!?

Panic began to rise as she fully understood her predicament. She kicked at the ground in frustration and wiped her eyes.

A rustle made her twist around, her eyes wide with fear wondering whatever does she have to encounter now!
