First Chapter

Netty is a naive NoodleNeck, the only one of her kind, in the town of Nune. All the Nunians avoid Netty, for reasons Netty knows not why. You see, around ninety or so years ago, Netty's native town was nestled in a knotty nook, surrounded by knotty trees, . Known as a town named - yes - you guessed - "Knotty". This was when the NoodleNeck phenomenon actually began. It stirred up neurotic notions on the part of Knotty's elder generations.

You see, present day communication involves a teeny-tiny manufactured implant in the ear, with an optical scope which transmitted to the neurons of the noggin, allowing sight and sound, both near and far. We all know it is known as a "Node". In Netty's youth, such communication was only available via a boxy device hooked to a network. It was called a "computer", or to be politically correct, a "PC", or for the lucky ones, a "Mac". Netty and her friends of Knotty considered these devices nerdish. So they all opted for a 6" by 3" rectangular thing called a "mobile phone", which they held in their hands constantly and craned their necks continually to read and punch letters and numbers on a thing known back then as a QWERTY; a practice referred to, back then, as "texting". It was this thing - this silly nonsensical thing - the mobile phone - that began the abnormal ergonomic phenomenon of the NoodleNecks.

As Netty the NoodleNeck lays on her rack, she simply puzzles over why all the Nunians are different from her. She honestly feels sorry for the Nunians.

"Oh well!" sighs Netty, as she shrugs and falls to slumber, dreaming of jollier days as a youth growing up in Knotty.
