Ethan stood at the window, looking across the seas at an island, one simple cottage stood on top of it.
He wondered what it would be like, to see what was across the sea, to know what isolation felt like.
The more he looked at the window, the more he got curious, the seas would take him far.
His impulsive thinking made him rush down the stairs of his humble home.
Thinking of a life across the sea, with someone he could call his beloved.
It was midnight, but that didn't deter him from his motives.
Putting on a raincoat and a lunch pail together, he rushed to the docks.
Seeing the boats unattended, he hopped onto a smaller one, but still good quality.
The sea was rough at night, water was already swallowing nearby boats.
Ethan started the engine and headed off, it wasn't going as fast as he envisioned.
He grabbed an oar, rapidly pushing against the currents.
The island looked like it was moons away, but his heart wouldn't allow him to stop, he had to get there by dawn.
His boat rocked side to side, the sea got more unstable as time went on.
Ethan panted, the oar was splitting by the seconds, the wood was wet and weakening.
The sun had started to rise, he realized how long he's been out here, yet it only felt like mere minutes.
The boat started to weaken, the island was a mile away.
Using the remaining bits of the oar, he tried to push his way closer, yet to no avail, the boat started to fill with water.
Ethan grunted, he wasn't in control of the boat anymore.
It spun out of control, water damaged the bottom, it was irreparable.
Suddenly, a rope latched onto the boat's hook, reeling the boat to the island.
Ethan hurriedly got onto the land, crawling and panting.
He looked up to see a man towering over him.
"Who are you?" Ethan muttered, he immediately laid on his back, hyperventilating.
The other man kicked the boat into the water, watching it sink, he turned his gaze to Ethan.
"Serphintine. I live here on this remote island, I don't like visitors, it's remote for a reason." Serphintine sighed.
Ethan felt his cheeks flush a bit, he did intrude, didn't he?
He looked into Serphintine's dark eyes, the pitch black met his pastel teal eyes.
Serphintine himself felt his heart skip a beat, but he turned away quickly.
"Come inside to dry off, I'll lend you some clothes and make tea." Serphintine offered.
Ethan found himself lost in his feelings, not knowing Serphintine was suffering in his too.
