Chapter 11: My Pigeon Is A God

brandit-the-bruin Fantasy 17 Dec 2025

"You know," I said to the pigeon eating the other half of my bagel, "I thought an ancient bird god would be less hungry all the time."
His feathers puffed up. "If you were cursed to live as a fraction of your former self and serve a human bloodline, it would work up an appetite in you as well. Now give me that bagel. Have we got a nation to conquer today? How about a forest to burn?"
I wasn't sure exactly how Cyclone Wing had ended up here. My family had been keeping carrier pigeons ever since World War I, when they were used to carry secret messages, and I was continuing the tradition of taking care of the birds. They liked to go on walks sometimes. No one had ever mentioned that one of those pigeons talked, though. Or that he claimed to be a firebird god trapped in a pigeon's body. I saw no other logical explanation for a talking pigeon, so I had accepted that as fact.
"Let's not burn anything," I told him. "Let's go down to the lakefront and see if anything fun is happening."
Cyclone huffed and followed me towards the shore. A few kids on bikes passed us, and a mom with a stroller. As we reached the lake, I saw a man with a big, fluffy Labradoodle. The dog started towards us, and I reached out my hand to let it sniff me. "Can I pet him?" I asked the man.
The man shook his head and pursed his lips. I retracted my hand sadly, but the dog ignored me. It headed directly for Cyclone. I started to tell my bird god not to attack the Labradoodle, but I didn't get the chance. The dog bared its fangs and spoke.
"Cyclone Wing," it growled, in a female voice. "Flamehurler. Windshaper. Thief of the Sun Seed. You thought you could escape me?"
Cyclone shrunk back. "Great to see you too, Blizzard Fang. Didn't know you were living among mortals now." Suddenly, he grabbed the back of my shirt with his talons. "Time to run!" he squawked.

Chapter 22: The SunSeed

WisteriaParfait Fantasy 29 Dec 2025

My face scrunches in disbelief, but none the less my feet move faster then my thinking and I take off. Running as fast as I can almost as if I had something to fear myself.

I run towards the opposite side of the lake And unfortunately I happen to have to be running up hill…I should really work on my cardio… The labradoodle Follows close behind us a little to close for my liking

“Incompetent human” Cyclone Huffs in disgusted disbelief of my speed.

“Ha~ Well why don’t switch places then” I bite back at him, his silence making me feels a little to satisfied.

“I won’t let you escape this time you Dishonorable appalling thief!” The not so cute anymore labradoodle starts running faster right behind me.

My heart races and my adrenaline picks up. I run as fast I can and as fast as I’ve ever ran in my lifetime before. Who knew taking care if pigeons would be this high maintenance, I feel the talons of cyclone dig into my shoulder showing he’s more nervous then he seems.

“Wow she must really hate you” I say as we start reaching a crowd of people though the park.

“Ha I can tell this is your first encounter with a god,” Cyclone wing scoffs at me, “I have as many devout followers as I do Enemies” He says in a Proud tone as I run though the crowd of people in the main park square where all the vendors are, with white stands selling things from little trinckets, to clothes, and Food. I run though the crowd Finally Losing the Mean labradoodle that Some reason hates the little pigeon god.

Running to the opposite more secluded end of the park. my Adrenaline starts dying down, and the consequences of running though an entire park without having done much as an once of cardio in years starts to catch up with me. I bend over hands on my knees as I huff in out “Oh my god I’m gonna pass out I swear,” I say before slumping down against a near by tree, Cyclone wing then Hops of my shoulder completely run tired as I glare at him between my breathless pants.

“You did good human rest,” he says almost proud. And I’m speechless.

“What just happened!?And why did I just run away from a dog that’s calling you a sun theif!?" I can’t recall the exact words she said but in this moment I’m to stressed out to care.

Cyclone wing let’s out a frustrated breath, “That was…” he says in thought “a mere thorn in my side,” He says dancing around the question.

And my eye twitches, “That’s the most unaswer Answer I heard all day!” I say in a angered shriek, and Cyclone wing looks at me just unamused almost as if .he was looking at a child throwing a tantrum But to be fair that’s basically what I was in this moment but his reaction still makes me mad.

“There are many things you don’t know human and that you don’t need to know” he says on a more serious note a Dark glint in his Pigeon bird eyes. But somehow I feel the shift and feel a shiver down my spine reminding me that he really might just be a fire god after all.

“Hah well If I’m gonna start getting chased down by more animals then yeah I wanna know WHAT’S GOING ON!” I’m not going to keep taking care of you if-”

“And I’m suppose to be the squaking bird” He says rolling his eyes, I feel anger rise within me but before I can yell at him.

“That’s Blizzard Fang. We’ve been clashing for centuries now” He says in a irritated unamused sigh like he’d rather be talking about anything else.

“But why is she saying your a thief something about a Sunseed?”

“Ah- yes. 10000 Years ago Before you Pesky humans roamed the earth the god’s of the Earth, plants, and water, the ground gods with the god’s of the mountains fire and wind and sky. And both sides have from the beginning of time argued over which side should Possess the power of life and Creation The SunSeed.”

“So you stole it??” I say puzzled by brain overloaded taking everything in.

“It’s more complex then that. Humans always so small minded,” He says so arrogantly for someone who’s in a pigeon body, “Before I was trapped in this form I was a Fire god and I conqured nation after nation In the ground gods territory, I was the best of the best.” he says with triumph and pride, but theres a sad reminiscent look on his face, and I can’t help but feel a bit sad for him, “after years and years of searching I found it. In a temple in the east but what I didn’t know is that in the same temple Blizzard Fang god of the waters was there and so we fought for it for exactly 40 days.”

“40 days!?” I say in disbelief

But he ignores me and finishes on “As I had fought her and thought I won, I took the SunSeed from inside the temple. And before I knew it a bright light flashed and I got turned into this form and with the Sunseed not sitting where it should. The temple started to crumble and I flew out but barely made it,” He says with a sigh, “Is that what you wanted to know human?”

And with that my jaw hangs wide open practically on the floor of what to even do from here.

“Wait so are you going to try and find it again or what are you going to do!???” I say my mind racing.

“Yes I believe if I find the Sunseed again where ever it is that I’ll be able to turn back to my regular form by placing it back,” He says in thoughtful way “But it will be hard to do in this form.”

This is so crazy and a part of me wants to know more, yet I also wish I could just forget about all of this.

“Wait so who are you going to have help you then?” And with that Cyclone Looks at me straight in silence, and at first I’m confused at why he just looks at me then, my eyes widen in realization.

“Woah woah wait You want me to help you find the SunSeed!?”
