Hi! My name’s Levi! And I’m 7 years old! Auntie is over today! She’s playing with me.
But, even when I’m here for her to babysit me, it doesn’t make me feel better. Mommy and Daddy don’t get along, and I don’t like it.
Auntie tells me it’s nothing, I know she’s lying, and it annoys me.
“Levi, do you want me to make your lunch?” Auntie asks me.
I nod “Yes, please and thank you.”
Auntie gets up and goes to the kitchen. I follow her.
She grabs some mac & cheese, fills the pot up with water, and puts it on the stove. “Levi, do you want to help me?”
I smile and climb on to the counter. “Yes. That would be lovely!”
She smiles back. “Be careful.”
She picks me up and sits me back down, but farther back then I was. I swing my legs back and forth, and Auntie sprinkles salt into the pot of water.
“Will Mommy and Daddy be back soon?” I ask, looking at the door, that stays shut and still. “Will they not fight tonight?”
She smiles. “I wouldn’t worry about it at your young age.”
I nod. “Alright, I'll try. But I hate when they fight each other. It scares me.”
“Levi, it shouldn’t scare you,” Auntie says, pouring the macaroni noodles into the pot, and blowing on the steam. “I know what it’s like, sort of, you don’t want your mom and dad to divorce, but some people can’t be together anymore, and they might get a divorce, and then they get back together later, we don’t know.”
“Okay.”
I wish I understood.
But I don’t.

Mommy and Daddy are back, but they don’t look like they want to be here together.
“Levi, were you good today?” Mommy asks.
I smile and nod. “Yes, Auntie and me played a lot together!”
Mommy picks me up and sets me on her hip. “Sounds to me like you had a lot of fun today.”
“Maylyn, of course the boy had fun, he was with your sister,” Daddy says. “He loves her.”
I swallow. Will they divorce?
