Chapter 11: Seven
Please picture me in the trees,
When we were still young and naive,
And thought that it could never get better.
Swinging over the creek,
You looking at me,
Us both ignoring the weather.
And I must say,
That though I can't recall your face,
I've still got love for you.
All throughout the summer,
We forgot about September,
And just sang folk songs.
Cross your heart, won't tell no other,
Have you told anybody else, I wonder,
Cause it has been so very long.
And I've been meaning to ask you,
Is your father still blue,
Cause of all those ghosts?
If not, then you can still come live with me,
And in the sky we will forever be,
Just like in those folk songs.
Maybe we can go to that tree,
Where we always felt free,
And our love can finally be passed on.
Chapter 22: Trust Fund Baby
You say you don't want no trust fund baby,
Well, baby, I ain't even got a fund,
I just bring the fun.
I'm the type of girl that be rockin' baggy jeans,
Not a limousine.
Don't know about stronger,
But my daddy says I'm smarter
I ain't scared to laugh,
To share my craft,
To write that draft.
I'm the type of girl that could make you anything,
The type that people say is competent,
With some common sense.
No, I ain't the type of girl to almost die,
Just to get a dime.
No, I ain't no trust fund baby,
But that don't mean I want to be your lady.
