Chapter 11: New beginnings
It all started on 17 October 2026 It was 7:43pm, it was a clear spring afternoon. Aunty Chenille and her two daughters brought my mum 4 chickens that have crazy hairdos. Along with the chickens Aunty Chenille had brought, she also brought her baby duckling along and all we heard from my dad was " you are not keeping that duckling at all " my dad was not happy with the thought of keeping it. Me and my brother Ihaia new that we had to keep that duckling so we said to Aunty Chenille " we would love to take care of it for you and I know its hard for you to take care of it, so why don't we take it for you " the funny thing was that she actually brought the baby duckling for us to keep so our dream came true very fast but all of a sudden my dad came up and shook his head till the look of his face look like it was going to blow up. The fact that we got away with keeping a baby duckling all of a sudden, was actually surprising. It freaked me out a little because it has to grow up it has to be feed, and it has to learn to fly. How are we going to manage this all in half a year. They grow up so fast and we can not manage to keep up with them. Or could we? We already have 16 lambs 2 pets, named Flopsy and Mopsy. A goat named Peter, 23 sheep, 3 horses, 2 pigs, 12 chickens, 3 dogs, a cat, and now a duckling that will soon grow up and adventure too many places. This farm grew bigger and bigger each year, we've been here for 7 years now and it only feels like 3. We live in Ruapehu district on a big farm with lots of whanau and friends surrounded by us. I've always felt like home. Even when things turn out to be bad or things turn out to be thrilling Ruapehu will always be my home.
