It was a small cottage on the south coast of Florida.

Passed down for generations upon generations.

I’d lived there all my life, fishing, swimming,surfing and sailing.

I loved it, it was one of those things you wish would never change.

But at 15 it did.

Money won against legacy, and my father got a job in Utah.

A completely landlocked state.

Yay.

Welcome to South Jordan Utah, Population 80,000.

Gone was my salt, my ocean.

My mother recommended the Lakes, but it’s not the same.

There’s no Tide, no Salt, no endless View.

My breeze had been stolen,

everywhere I looked I saw buildings,

or fences,

or sidewalks.

The Mountains loomed in the east.

Scary, huge, lumbering, threatening to crash down at any moment.

Did I mention I don’t like the Scary Mountains?

That all changed, when I found the Door inside the Mountain.
