Romans 8:28, "For we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love him."
This passage means a lot to me and in my life. I have the comfort of knowing that God is working for my good in all he does. I'm reminded, that in all things, bad or good, sad or happy, God is there with me, and blessing me. I have had times in my life where I questioned God on his decisions, but then everything worked out great. Even when a loved one dies, I know that God was doing it to keep them from suffering, or something else. This is a wonderful piece of Gospel, that I have loved for a very long time. I know that in whatever I do, God still loves me, and has a place for me in Heaven, as long as I believe.
After they had meted on him all they possibly could just because of his status as the only Son of God with all the trails of proof to justify that indeed he was His Son, they fed him vinegar. He tasted and saw and felt the depth of inhumanity and how far humans can go and will do to harm each other including the innocent.
Having declared to the world that he was the son of God who sent him, he had been trolled so many times as other quarters of the scriptures tell us. Despite the endless cajoling by kings of the world to denounce his godliness, Jesus, didn't because he knew that he had to do what his father -God, had sent him to do and must accomplish the mission.
His declaration in John 19:30, "It is finished" was so powerful that it outweighed all other efforts of the sinful world to betray him and hand him over to those who wanted him crucified. “It is finished!” were Jesus' last words that showed absolute love and desire to do the will of God, his father, our father. He indeed succeeded in bearing the pain and death on behalf of all mankind and even proceeded to die on the cross to bring salvation to the world. His blood from his whipped body, tears from his weeping eyes and water from his pierced ribs poured onto the ground as an atonement of our sin. This, no man can do. No man can finish. We got salvation though his love, mercy and sacrifice that freed us from sin so that, when we feel wretched and crushed and dirty, we run to him and he lifts us up and we are safe for he finishes what we can't finish, he lifts what we cannot lift. He washes clean. He saves. He lives.
