I used to hate mirrors
They always seemed to find parts of me that I tried to hide
The skin I picked at, the face I called ugly when no one could hear
So eventually, I stopped looking altogether
It was easier that way
No reflection waiting to ruin an already bad day
I could pretend my face belonged to someone else
I could pretend I didn't hate being me
Then one day, I looked
I don't know why, maybe I just forgot to look away
There was a girl standing on the other side of the glass
Her complexion as frail as mine
I stared at her for a long time
I tried to find some warmth in her face
Something that reminded me of the person I used to be
But the girl in the mirror forgot who I was
What happens in the next chapter?
This is the end of the narrative for now. However, you can write the next chapter of the story yourself.
