Guidelines: I started the story in second person present tense, keep it the same for consistency or mix it up.
Remove the synopsis from the chapter so you don’t spoil anyone before they read it.
If the next chapter’s option isn’t written yet, create it yourself! Just remember to end your chapter with at least two options to continue the narrative, or let it be a dead end—your choice.
Use the formatting I started for the options at the end of your chapter— for consistency sake.
Name your chapter after the corresponding option from the previous chapter you're continuing from—Example: Option 1. Option 2. Option 3. Etc.
Happy choosing!
“I love you mom!” You say as you head out the door.
She waves as you unlock your bike. “I love you too sweetie.”
You kick off, peddling for your friend Darren’s house. He invited your friend group over for a sleepover tonight on the first night of spring break. Darren’s parents are so cool; they always let us drink soda and stay up as late as we want.
The air is cool as you make your way to Darren’s house. The amber sun casts long shadows on the ground. Just thinking about tonight sends a shiver down your spine. This is going to be so awesome, you think.
Darren’s large house greets you as you roll up to it. The angular design and large windows give off a very modern feel.
You stand your bike up on the patio, and proceed to walk up the stone steps to the front door. You ring the door bell. After a couple minutes you ring it again—still no answer. You did get here earlier than planned, maybe they did some last minute shopping?
Do You:
Wait on the front steps. (Proceed to next chapter’s option 1)
See if the door is unlocked. (Proceed to next chapter’s option 2)
Or check the back door. (Proceed to next chapter’s option 3)
You decide it’s best to just wait here. They’ll be back soon, and if not, you can just go home.
Time passes slowly, and the sun gets lower in the sky.
You see headlights shining up the driveway. One of their cars pulls into the lot. A wave of excitement courses through you.
Darren hops out of the the vehicle. “You’re here early, ben.
“We had to go out to get some last minute snacks.”
He leads you around to the back of the vehicle. It opens to reveal a cornucopia of snacks. Everything we need for a great sleepover!
“This is so awesome.”
“I know. Thanks Mom and Dad,” Darren says to his parents as they meet us at the back of the vehicle.
“Of course. We’re just glad to help,” says Darren’s mom.
We all grab a few bags, heading toward the door.
A chandelier hangs from the tall vaulted ceiling.
Darren’s mom and dad take the bags from us.
“We’re going to be in the kitchen preparing snacks for you kids, feel free to do whatever in the mean time,” Darren’s Dad says.
They walk off leaving you alone with Darren.
“I’ve got something I want to show you in the shed out back, Or should we pick a movie first, then go out to the shed once everyone’s here?
