Chapter 11: The patterns

Queen-neef13 Mystery / Thriller 10 Feb 2026

A girl of the age of twelve was doing her math online one day, when suddenly she noticed something strange, all the even numbered problems had even answers, but all the odd numbered problems had odd answers. When she told her best friend she was advised not to tell anyone else, “If your mom finds out she might make you change curriculums,” she said.

Reluctantly the girl agreed not to tell. However, as time went on she began to notice more and more patterns in her math problems, for example every prime numbered problem had a prime number solution. The lesson number would be the solution to the problem numbered with the lesson number divided by the number of digits. At first she was fine with knowing this information, but as time went on and she discovered more and more she started to feel guilty. Leading to a phone call to her best friend in which she said, “I can’t keep my findings a secret any longer, it’s wrong. I’m not actually solving the problems anymore, I’m just typing the answers. I’m going to have to tell my mom.”

Of course her friend argued with her, mentioning the fact that she had skipped a grade and had a near impossible average of 100%, but none of that mattered to the girl, who knew what she was doing was wrong. So of course she told her mom and her mom changed her curriculum.

Chapter 22: A fresh start

Queen-neef13 Mystery / Thriller 11 Feb 2026

The next day the girl logged onto her new math curriculum first thing in the morning. Her mom had reluctantly agreed to let her try her current grade instead of putting her in the one she skipped. At first, when she logged in and answered the first question everything was normal, or at least it didn’t follow the same pattern as before. 50+6=? Was her first math problem, and the answer was 56. The next problem was x-11=200 the girl quickly ralized that the solution was 211. Then she started to worry, but before jumping to any conclusions she did problem number three x^2+1=?. Now she was completely freaked out after noticing that problem 5+6=11, 1+1=2 so 211=22, and problem 3 had an answer of 3.

Now the girl had a major dilemma, she had fond patterns in both of her math curriculums, she already knew that she had to tell her mom, but now she was wondering if it would do any good. She also had to decide when to tell her mom, and as she was thinking about it she realized another pattern. Her mom always got a raise on the first Friday of every six months. Then she noticed something else, today happened to be the first Friday of June, the month that her mom would, if her boss followed his pattern give her a raise. Because of this the girl decided to tell her mom about her math that night, and also to wait and see if her mom would actually get a raise that day.

Later that day when the girl’s mom came home the first thing that she told her daughter was about the raise.
