There once was a man, whom great treasure sought.
A treasure eternal that could not be bought.
All he had to go on were legends of old,
about this treasure worth diamonds and gold.
He set off to find one who knew the way,
To wisdom’s rich shores and knowledge’s deep bay.
Many men he did meet, many ways they did show,
But one after another they led only to woe.
At last he set sail on his own, trusting his heart to lead the way,
But the winds tossed him about and his heart led him astray.
Finally he collapsed on a far away shore, lost and confused,
He was tired and lonely, his body beaten and bruised.
Everyone he had trusted had set him off course,
And trusting himself left him far from wisdom’s sweet shores.
As he lay on the sand, no idea where to go,
A beautiful woman approached him in a gown white as snow.
“Your searching for wisdom in all the wrong places,
to find true wisdom you must ask Him who made it.”
The man looked up at her soft spoken words,
And deeply he pondered the things he had heard.
“But from where does wisdom come?” He cried out in uncertainty,
“From fearing the Lord and following Him diligently”
As she finished her answer she handed him a map,
“This is to guide your way and keep you from mishap
Follow this map, turn neither left nor right,
And soon wisdom’s golden shores will be within sight.”
With that he set sail, no longer hurled by the wind,
for the map will be there to guide him through thick and thin.
