Chapter 22: I'm Sorry For Your Loss
As I head down the road,
Wrapped in my own thoughts,
In the corner of my eye,
Just as I round the bend,
I see a little cross,
On the side of the road.
All of a sudden,
A wave of sonder crashes over me,
As I think of the fact,
That there may be,
A grieving mother,
A grieving father,
A grieving brother,
Or a grieving sister,
Still drowning in grief.
I may never know those people,
And I will never get to meet,
The one whose soul is sleeping,
On the side of the road.
And,
I know,
That could easily be me.
I could easily be the one,
Weeping on a headstone,
That belongs to a loved one.
Or the one,
Sleeping in the ground,
With my family's tears,
Watering the flowers,
Left at my grave.
