Chapter 11: The belief

pearl-ruby Horror 29 Dec 2025

I do not believe in ghosts, but most people say the more you run away from something the more it chases you. so that might be the reason why whenever I say I do not believe in ghosts, an uncanny sensation spreads all over me gripping my throat with its long icy fingers asking the same question again and again, how dare you say that you do not believe in ghosts so easily?

But still this failed to waver me from my belief. I believe that ghosts are just spirits of cause. they come to Earth just to check our well-being and to protect us whenever we waver from our actual path. These spirits are always with us, always by our side. maybe this was the reason why whenever I used to go to a family gathering I always saw twice the people invited. Yes, this was the special thing which attracted me towards these spirits of heavenly realm, I can easily see them. I discovered this thing when I was just seven years of old and we had gone to camping. I was lost in the forest late at night. But one old man saved me and left me safely at the doorstep of our inn. when I gave his description everyone was thrilled to find out that that man was the grandfather of the inn-keeper, who had already died seven years ago. My parents did not believe me at that time saying that it was my childish imagination, and that ghosts are not real. now grown-up me would have corrected him that it was not a ghost but a spirit who saved me, but the seven -year old me, who knew nothing of this kept quiet, well how long can you argue with a grown-up?

Anyway this incident shaped the basis of my life. No, no I am sorry not this one. But the one after that, when I was fourteen years old. That day my mother had rushed in the house in a frenzy running here and there, screaming that the doom was upon us. Her whole body was shaking and trembling with fear. Her heart was pounding so rapidly that I could hear it from the sofa I was slouching on. I had calmed her down and patiently asked her what happened? Then what she told me and the actions I took after that changed my life. And I decided to work on these matters side-by-side.

She told me that how in their office, people have been feeling presence of someone from a long time, but no one paid any heed to the situation. But all the hell broke loose from the day their new company CEO who had bought the company using some dirty tactics stepped in their office. First they were feeling just a presence but now they all were able to see a lady in black, with black floating hair, and all white glassy eyes, with skin equal to rough parchment paper. That particular day, when my mother was in the parking lot, driving her cart out that lady came just in front of her car, and her car stopped moving altogether. That was why she left the car there only, and had rushed towards the house on foot only.

To the fourteen year old me, who was just studying science it felt a little unbelievable. But my mother's state told me that it was not a thing to be ignored off. So I insisted in accompanying my mother to the office next day. My mother was furious. She literally begged me to not go there. but I wanted to go, I felt like there was instant connection binding me to that ghost or spirit, so I want to find out more about her. But of course I didn't tell this connection thing to my mother, otherwise not only office she would have denied me from going school also, that much scared she was.

I accompanied her next day to the office and . . . . . . . . .
