Chapter 11: Overseer

yourlocalhomie Fantasy 25 Sep 2026

A ball soared over my head, fortunately enough no one in the direct path of the ball. I spat onto the floor feeling the muddy grass brushing against the hard worn edges of my old sandals. I looked over the fence and focused. I clicked my fingers trying to read odd patterns in the sky as the soggy blades of wheat flew into the white and fluffy clouds, intercepting the harsh glare of the sun. As a kid, I recognised that I was different. I saw visions of dreams that would come real, project thoughts to others without speaking a word. I longed for peace and serenity, just wishing there was someone else like me.

Sweat trickled down the side of my cheek. I sat there in the cramped corner of the alleyway. I hastily attempted what I just saw. Pinching myself over and over attempting to make sure I wasn't dreaming, I looked over at the multiple objects lying in front of me. ‘Telekinesis?’ I thought. I pictured the dirty and empty trashcan parallel to my bruised legs. Up it went and down the alleyway, making a loud echo down the ancient and dark path. The cracked tiles bellow me created a loud clacking noise bellow my sneakers. I aimed my fingers towards the dark path. The one dim streetlight peering down towards the empty path of sadness.

Chapter 22: Predetermined

Dragonstzar-inadventures Fantasy 8 Oct 2026

I wake up in a haze, not recognizing anything around me nor even recognizing my own body. I slowly come back to reality as I look at the room around me; window, bed, chair, desk, closet... I catch my reflection in a mirror across the room. It's a girl with long brown hair and hazel eyes, she wasn't much to look at but her pale skin was without blemish. Sage. That's her name. That's my name. That's me.

I flop back on my bed and ponder the dream I just had. I was in an alley, gazing down at a boy. He couldn't have been much older than me. One thing was for sure though: he was a Telekinetic, like me. And here I thought I was the only one. That dream had to be true. I have to find him.

I rush to leave, barely remembering to grab something to eat or even my phone. I'm thrilled that it's a Saturday. I won't have to worry about having getting anywhere. I pull my skateboard over with my mind and set off down the street. Today, I take the back roads. But I only make it a few blocks down when I look down an alley and feel a sudden sense of comprehension. I see the streetlight from the end of my dream. I push at it with my mind in frustration. It gives and bends to the side a bit. The alley was empty. He was gone. He had been so close.
