I take myself too seriously, then not seriously at all. You can see it in my writing: I wax multisyllabic, pondering cosmic questions, yet diminish the tone with liberal loads of alliteration and massive oodles of assonance. A well-structured essay will often lose its way, lingering overlong at one point, only to take a sightseeing side trip, before rejoining the rest of the tour group. Free association self-expression can speak to someone other than the author, but not in a way that lens itself to the communication of linear thought.
