Hiya, this is an idea that follows on from a thread I made on the discussion forum, as I thought it might be fun to have some writing prompts!

The prompt is a one-word one, as I find those to be the most versatile and interesting.

The word I picked for this thread is 'vessel'.

I'm going to post my interpretation of the prompt below this as a 'chapter 2', so that my submission doesn't sway anyone's ideas on what to write, and hope you guys will get involved with your own takes on the prompt by adding new chapters/story paths below! Credit to SepiandDust for the general idea of how this is all set out :)

On the nights when the wind doesn’t blow, the birds don’t cry or the frogs don’t croak.

When the stars shine bright and the moon is full.

Here comes the vessel, the giant boat.

With rivers for its trimming and the sky for its hull.

It comes to take the sleepers away.

To a place where dreams can romp and play.

So rest my child, don’t dismay, when the boat of dreams takes you away.

On the nights when the sky hangs low,

listens for its foghorn blow.

It’s sails are full of stars they say,

when it takes the dreamer’s away.

your stay in the Land of dreams be done.

Your wake up to a brand new day,

as the dreamland memories fade .
