Chapter 11: The Witch Accepts A Quest

Sufferjets Fantasy 24 Jun 2026

The witch Nana was a hero. Really. She used black magic but she used it to save the world. When the Hero From Another World went on his journey to defeat the Blackheart Sorceror, she was right there fighting alongside them. That was why the villagers came to her with their problems. She was a hero and could use magic, so they believed there was no problem she couldn't solve. But sometimes Nana felt that the villagers weren't in their right mind.

"I need you to kill that bitch. Like, vanquish her or something. She's a villain and you are just letting her walk around like that's not a problem. You need to end that bitch." The village girl said, staring Nana dead in the eye. The speaker was Jackie, the daughter of the village chief. She had come barging into Nana's hut without warning.

"Jackie, start over. Who is a villain?" Nana asked, predicting a headache.

"That bitch Priscilla! She's a thief! A crook. She's just going around taking things that's not hers and you haven't done anything about it. You are supposed to be a hero, so why aren't you doing your job?" Jackie jabbed a finger at Nana as she spoke.

"A thief? What did she steal?"

"Alright, you know Hunter? My future husband. I mean he didn't agree to the marriage but he don't have a choice because my daddy run this village. Anyway, he was sleeping outside, right? Leaning up against a tree with his shirt off, looking mighty sexy. And then out of nowhere that bitch Priscilla comes hop-skipping along and kisses him." Jackie said.

Nana waited for several moments for Jackie to continue. But seeing that Jackie had no intention of continuing, Nana spoke up."So what did she steal?"

"Nana, are you listening to me? You hard of hearing or something? She stole a kiss off Hunter! That's my future husband so that kiss belongs to me! She's a thief. She's a burglar. You need to put that bitch down!"

"Hold on, Jackie. I can't assassinate someone just because they kissed the boy you like."

"Who said anything about assassination? I asked you to smite that bitch in the name of truth and justice."

"I'm not about to murder an innocent girl!"

"Then you're not about to stay in this village either because my daddy said that if you don't help me, then he is gonna talk to the king about your unpaid taxes, and I know you can't pay them because you live in a broke-down hut in the woods." Jackie spoke the threat with a straight face.

Nana stared at Jackie.

Jackie stared at Nana.

"Alright, I'll see what I can do. I'll get her to leave the village the something." Nana conceded.

"What? You wanna let her leave? I want to slap that bitch in her face while she lies dying in the dirt!" Jackie exclaimed.

"You want her gone or not, Jackie?"

Satisfied with the agreement, Jackie took her leave. Once she was alone, Nana let out a loud sigh. Everyday in the village was like this.

"Alright then, time to work."

Nana sighed. She wouldn't come around this. Not if she wanted to stay here. She didn't planned to not pay her bills. She wanted to life a Life where she hadn't bill stacking in some corner, but when you were constantly helping people that didn't pay you more than not throwing you out of the village and occasionally giving you some food, but that also mostly happend when you looked like she hadn't eaten in Days which most of the time was true, because you love your garden and if you had enough time and wouldn't constantly set it on fire, it would be enough, to eat but nowwhere between making sure Alfreds Asthma didn't kill him and throwing out a girl becaus she kissed the boy an other girl with more influence like was that posible.

Nana took a few peppermint leaves ant threw them togehter with a few other subsatnzes in an coldren. It would be summer soon which ment that all sorts of bugs would terrorize the villagers and she would be the one they would running to. Maybe this year she should ask for a few goldthalers. It would bring a lot of frustraition to the vilagers and wasn't it her job to fix that? technical yes, but not when she nearly died becaus she had to starve and who would then make sure the vilagrers would have all there semingly impssiply problems solved. Paying for a few things it was.

That didn't solve her issue with Jackie and Priscilla. She would defintly not kill that girl, cause she might be a wich but she sure as hell was not a murderer. But what in the name of all thats holy would bring Priscilla to leave the vilage? She could make an mid controll potion or spell, but the potion was expensiv and needet time which Jackie woul not give her and the spell was exausting wich woul have sleep her for atleast a day in wich she would have to leave the vilagers alone. Not a good option either. Also the spell would only work for 10 day and no mather how far Priscilla would come in this day she would find no reason to not come back. So that would not work out.

Maybe if she knew Priscilaa a bit better she knew how to get her out. If she and Hunter where a coupel she would have to either scare her out and make it hurt, keep her looked up somewhere, keep her close so she could constantly mind control her (that would only work on the long run with the potion) or actualy kill her.

The last piont still wasn't an option.

Looked up would mean nana either somwhere found money to pai someone that looked after Priscila or she had to do so herself wich neither was realistig on the long run. Exept if she could bring Priscila to want to lern magic wich she probaly could not and if it would bring to many consecenses in the end. BUT it still was an option. So what was her ultimate Plan?

Chapter 33: The Witch Comes Up with a Plan

Nana ground a few ingredients together into a powder using a mortar and pestle made of specially enhanced aventurine, for wellbeing and good luck. She'd sure as hell need it for what she was about to attempt.

The powder was dumped into the slowly simmering cauldron. Hopefully, this time, the potion wouldn't evaporate and disappear on her. A metal ladle was dipped into the pot, and when she lifted it out, thick ribbons of murky and odorous mixture dripped from the head of the utensil. Good enough. But she'd have to spritz it up to make it more appealing.

"Nana!" The front door to her workshop slammed open, shuddering the shelves of the little room and disturbing the dust that coated the area. Nana felt a sigh build up in her chest, but suppressed it for the time being as she turned to face the intruder. As expected, it was Jackie.

"I'm a little busy here, Jackie. Come 'round a little later, and then we can talk." She brushed her platinum locks behind her ears, returning to her work. Her hair had always been a symbol of how strange and different she was from the other girls in her village, even before she learnt she was a witch and could make people dance themselves to death if she so wished.

"No, we need to speak now." Jackie huffed tearfully, setting herself on a sturdy workbench nearby to Nana. She worried over the possibility that her cauldron may accidentally catch on fire and roast Jackie alive.

Putting that side, it was rare to see Jackie in tears. She was so headstrong, so stubborn, it was hard to imagine this obstinate girl crying over something particularly absurd. Though everyone and their mother already knew Hunter never particularly liked Jackie anyway, Nana thought it must've recently clocked to the girl herself that he wasn't obsessed with her.

"Priscilla..." Jackie's lower lip trembled, before she unexpectedly began bawling, sending Nana into a panic. She didn't know how to react to the village chief's daughter sitting on her benchtop, sobbing herself silly over a girl that liked her crush. She hurried around the room in a frenzy before locating a rumpled but clean handkerchief and thrusting it into Jackie's hands. She immediately blew her nose into it and wiped her eyes. Nana was definitely not going to touch that again. Jackie could keep it, for all she cared.

Nana tried to inject a consoling tone into her words, though it sounded more like she was trying to cough up a frog. "Jackie, come on. Don't cry. What did Priscilla do now?"

"She- she-" Jackie blubbered, waving the damp handkerchief around her face dramatically. "She proposed to him! That bitch! That horrible, horrible snake! Everyone knew I was supposed to marry him! Oh, Hunter!"

She continued to weep uncontrollably. Nana awkwardly pat her on the back, hoping she would stop already.

After a few minutes of thoroughly destroying Nana's handkerchief, Jackie eventually came to. "Nana. I need you to kill her. I don't care how you do it. I don't care if I said I was okay with you just 'driving her out of the village' yesterday. I won't rest until she is lying, forgotten, out in the Forbidden Forest with mushrooms and moss growing on her body."

Nana took a step back from Jackie. Rare as it was to have her crying, it was even rarer to see her so serious. She really wants Priscilla dead. And there's nothing I can say that will deter her from that. Nana pondered over what she could do. On the one hand, if she didn't go through with it, Jackie would have her reported to the king and be off with her head. On the other hand, if she did go through with it, she'd have the consciousness of murdering a faultless girl at the whims of another reckless girl.

And suddenly, an idea sprung into her head. A love potion! Sure, it was risky, and sure, if Jackie found out about it, she would probably fulfil her threat with no hesitation. But who said she needed to find out?

All she needed to do was find someone to replace Hunter. Nana wasn't sure whether she wanted to bewitch Jackie or Priscilla into forgetting about him, but it would all be sorted out for her soon.
